Color Guard/Living History Unit of the General David Humphreys
Branch #1 – CTSSAR
Established April 2017 to act as the Educational Outreach of the Branch, the Color Guard portrays Capt. David Humphreys’ Company formed from January to June 1783 as part of the Second Regiment of the Connecticut Line.
David Humphreys joined a New York Militia regiment in 1776, and later rose in the 6th Connecticut Regiment to the rank of Brigade Major. He successively became an aide to General Putnam (in 1778), General Nathaniel Greene (in 1780), and General George Washington (from June of 1780 to the end of the hostilities), attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Sgt. Daniel Bissell, a Badge of Military Merit recipient was in this Company.
Membership in the Color Guard is open to any member of the General David Humphreys Branch in good standing.
The Color Guard annually participates in:

• Historical/Patriotic Ceremonies and Commemorations
• SAR, DAR, and CAR Events.
